What the game is
The Future You've Been Dreaming Of is a 3D anime life simulation made by the studio qureate and published by Medibang Inc, according to its Nutaku page. You do not play the woman at the center of it. You play a Zashiki-Warashi, a house-bound spirit said to bring good fortune, who watches over her apartment and steers her days. It runs on Windows desktop and is a paid game, sold as a one-time purchase on Nutaku and on GOG rather than as a free-to-play title. The page also asks for a gamepad, noting that gamepad operation is recommended.
A reader who wants a long branching story will find something different here. The pages describe a game built around one character, her room and a set of parameters, with the result decided by how those parameters end up.
How it plays
The story is simple and the pages tell it plainly. The economy is in recession and the job market is poor. Sachi Usui, a college student, spends lazy days unsure what to become, even though it is almost time to look for work. Her building is about to be demolished, so she has to find a new place. Her search leads her to an older, renovated apartment with nothing special about it except a "resident god". It looks fishy, but she moves in anyway, hoping to benefit from that power.
The spirit is you, and Sachi cannot see you. That is the premise of the whole game: you peer into her life at home, and now and then you step in because you have no choice, all to guide her toward a bright future. The developer's site frames the goal as leading her from a drab everyday routine to the future she has always dreamed of.
The controls of the game are about objects, not dialogue. Her room is full of items that can change her parameters. You search the room, ring your bell, and the sound draws Sachi toward the item you chose. When she uses it, something about her changes. The developer's pages give a few examples of what these items do: reading makes her more intellectual, and looking after herself is described as essential to a hopeful future. Using an item can lower or raise a given parameter, so the choice of what to draw her to is the player's main decision.
The set of usable items is not fixed. The page says the items available change by chapter, so the room has to be searched carefully each time. Each chapter also has a time limit. The page tells the player not to sit and stare, but to focus on finding the items she needs to improve herself.
Progress is measured by Sachi's parameters at the end. According to the page, those final parameters open the path to her future, and there are 20 total paths, or endings, each based on where her parameters finish. So the structure is a loop of chapters with limited time, a changing set of items in the same room, and a result that depends on the choices accumulated along the way. Reaching all 20 endings means playing it more than once and steering her differently.
Sachi herself is voiced in Japanese, and the page names Japanese as the voice language. She is described as a laid-back optimist who is average in every way imaginable. Despite awful luck, her personality and outlook stay bright and positive. The game lists a single supported player.
Content and themes
The Nutaku page tags the game as Simulation in genre, with the tags 3D, Anime, Romance, Cute, Voyeurism, DRM Free, POV and Multiple Endings. That tells you most of what matters. The art is 3D and anime in style. The point of view is the watching spirit's, and the voyeurism tag matches the premise: the page says the setup lets you see how she lives day to day at home, including moments when she lowers her guard.
The cast is one named character in one apartment. The Nutaku page states that all characters involved in sexual content are over the age of 18, and the story text has Sachi about to take her next step as an adult by looking for work. GOG files the game under Simulation and Role-playing and adds the tags Mature, Sexual Content, Nudity, NSFW, Romance and Dating Sim, with a notice that the game may contain content not appropriate for all ages.
There is a dress-up side too. The developer says her clothes and hairstyle can be changed at the player's will. Reaching certain goals opens up new hairstyles and outfits, and outfits do not affect her parameters, so they are a matter of taste. The Nutaku page lists the opportunity to change outfits and hairstyles among its key features, next to the 20 different endings and the lack of DRM.
For the anime and hentai reader, this is an anime-styled 3D simulation. For the 3D reader, the whole game is rendered in 3D from the spirit's viewpoint.
Platforms and where to get it
The Nutaku page says the game is available on Windows desktop, and that is the platform it lists. It is sold directly on Nutaku, where the page tags the game as DRM free. The Nutaku page lists the file download size as 534.42 mb and the supported languages as Japanese, English and Chinese.
GOG is the second store with a page for it. That page says the game works on Windows, lists qureate and MediBang Inc. as the companies behind it, and states that it has no DRM and can be installed from an offline installer without the GOG Galaxy client. Its feature list names controller support, an overlay and single-player, and its language table shows English, Japanese and both Chinese scripts. The minimum system requirements on the GOG page are Windows 8.1 64bit, an Intel Core i5-2400, 8 GB RAM and 1 GB of available space, and the recommended set is Windows 10 Pro 64-bit with 16 GB RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060.
The developer's own site, qureate's official page for the game, lists the platform as Steam and Nintendo Switch, with its own sale dates for both. The same site offers pages in Japanese, English, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese, and it has sections for the story, character, system, gallery and specifications. It also carries a notice asking anyone who plans to distribute gameplay videos or live broadcasts of the game, whether an individual or a company, to contact qureate first.
For Android and browser play there is nothing: the pages name no Android build and no browser version.
Price and model
The model is simple. It is a one-time paid game, with no in-game currency mentioned and no supporter tiers on any page. As of October 2026 the Nutaku page lists the price at $17.99, with a BUY GAME button, and the developer's specification table also gives a price of $17.99. GOG is the third site, and there the amount is displayed in CHF, EUR or USD according to the store's currency setting. None of the three sites mentions optional purchases inside the game.
Nutaku purchases are made on that store's own checkout. The page notes that a purchase cannot be repeated while one is pending, and points to the store's Frequently Asked Questions page for clarification. The page does not describe a free demo.
Development state and version
The Nutaku page read in October 2026 gives Version 1 under its game information, with a release date of February 16, 2023. The developer's specification table gives earlier sale dates for the other platforms it names: July 15, 2022 for Steam and May 19, 2022 for Nintendo Switch. The pages do not describe the game as in early access or in development, and they do not announce a sequel or planned updates. It presents itself as a finished game with a fixed set of 20 endings.
Who it suits
This suits a player who likes a quiet, system-driven simulation and enjoys the idea of watching over a character and shaping her habits. It fits someone who wants a replayable loop of chapters on a Windows PC, a gamepad if they have one, and a reason to go back for other endings. The dress-up options reward players who like customizing a character.
There are limits. It is built around one room and one character, so it is not a wide, sprawling story game. The time limit on each chapter and the changing item list mean the player has to search the room again each chapter. The stores name Windows and the developer adds Nintendo Switch, so it will not suit someone who wants a phone game or something to play in a browser. And since it is a paid game with a voyeurism tag at its center, it is for adults who are comfortable with that premise.
