What Being a DIK is

Being a DIK is a choice-driven adult visual novel from the developer Dr PinkCake, set at a college and sold on GOG as a base game plus separately sold seasons. It runs on Windows and Linux, it is a single-player game in English, and it is paid: Season 1 is the base game, and later seasons continue the story as add-ons that need the earlier ones. The GOG page calls it a choice-driven adult Visual Novel, and the Season 3 page adds Dating Sim to its tags.

It is a multi-season serial, and in October 2026 the Season 3 page says a fourth season is still to come.

How it plays

The premise on the Season 1 page: a man from a low-income family leaves his widowed father and his summer love to attend college at Burgmeister & Royce. He arrives as a newcomer and is persuaded to join an up-and-coming fraternity called Delta Iota Kappa, where he meets conflicts, alcohol, drugs and sex. The player takes that role and shapes the character through choices. The page asks whether the player will be a nice, caring and romantic guy or someone more straightforward and daring, and says the characters in the game have different values and may or may not be drawn to the player depending on those choices.

Mostly it is read-and-choose, but the page adds layers. The game is made more interactive through optional mini-games and free-roam events where the player explores the current environment. Boosters, cheats and skills can be purchased to make the mini-games easier to pass, and hidden items found along the way give access to special artwork.

Season 1 covers Episodes 1 to 4, titled The Initiation, Maggot Brothers, 100% and When worlds collide. The developer describes it as 361 animated scenes and over 8000 images, an 8 to 12 hour game, and one that can be replayed for different paths. Season 2 covers Episodes 5 to 8 with bigger episodes, which the page describes as close to 14 000 static images, more than 900 animated scenes, 129 new songs, 58 special 2D art pieces and new mini-games, and a playthrough of 12 to 16 hours. Season 3 adds an interlude called Riding the Waves, in which the player controls Zoey, plus Episodes 9 to 12. Its page says the story is tailored to the choices made in Seasons 1 and 2 and that it uses save files made at the end of Episode 8.

Content and themes

Being a DIK is an adult game with graphically depicted sex, drug use and violence, and the pages say so directly. GOG's tags for Season 1 include Story Rich, Role-playing, Visual Novel, Mature, Sexual Content, Nudity, NSFW and Narrative. The Season 3 page lists a longer set that adds Choices Matter, Funny, Mystery, Point&Click, Multiple Endings, Realistic, Emotional, Choose Your Own Adventure, Romance, Modern, Fighting, Dating Sim and Comedy.

The setting is college life, in a game the pages call an adult visual novel: a fraternity, parties, a Halloween party and Thanksgiving among the episode summaries. The tone mixes comedy with drama. The developer states that all sexual acts in the game are consensual, and warns that the story is not intended for players in a dark period of their lives and that anyone easily offended should not play it. The romance is branching, so different choices lead to different characters, with the stated aim of letting a player replay for other paths.

Platforms and where to get it

The official listing is the Season 1 page on GOG, with Season 2 and Season 3 on their own GOG pages. All three state that they work on Windows and Linux. The pages do not list a macOS build.

GOG says its games are DRM-free, playable offline, and installable from a standalone offline installer, with GOG Galaxy optional and used only for syncing achievements and cloud saves. The Season 1 minimum requirements are Windows 7 or higher, a 2.0 GHz Core 2 Duo, 2 GB of RAM, OpenGL 2.0 or DirectX 9.0c graphics and 6 GB of storage. Season 2 asks for 13 GB, and Season 3 lists Windows 10 or higher and 20 GB. GOG offers refunds up to 30 days. The pages also list bundles that package Seasons 1 to 3 with an official guide, and one that pairs Seasons 1 to 3 with the developer's Acting Lessons.

Price and model

Paid, per season. Season 1 is the base game. The Season 2 page states that it needs Season 1, and the Season 3 page states that it needs both Season 1 and Season 2. Each season is sold on its own, and the pages call later seasons DLC released and sold separately. Optional guides and a 4K resolution mode are listed as further add-ons. In the game itself, boosters, cheats and skills for the mini-games can be bought, as the Season 1 page states.

Each season's GOG page shows its price in the buyer's selected currency, and the pages offer CHF, EUR and USD. In October 2026 GOG's own user rating for Season 1 stands at 4.4 out of 5 from 304 reviews.

Development state

In October 2026 the GOG product details list 2026 for Season 3, against 2020 for Season 1 and 2022 for Season 2. The Season 3 page states that Being a DIK Season 4 will be the final season and will conclude the story. It gives no release date for Season 4 and no version number for any season. A player starting the series gets a story that is unfinished by the developer's own account, with at least one more season announced.

Who it suits

Being a DIK suits a player who wants a long, serial, story-first visual novel with a big cast, a college fraternity setting, comedy mixed into the drama and branching choices that carry from one season into the next. The playtimes the pages give run from 8 to 12 hours for Season 1 and 12 to 16 hours for Season 2, so a full run through the available seasons is a real commitment. Players who like to replay for alternate paths get the most from it.

The caveats are plain. The story does not end in Season 3, so it is a bad fit for someone who wants a finished game. Each season is bought separately and has to be played in order, and Season 3 expects its predecessors' saves. It is English only, with no macOS build named. The sex, drug and violence content is graphic by the developer's own description, and the mini-games are a layer on top of the reading that the page itself calls optional.
