What the game is

Seeds of Chaos is an adult dark fantasy game from Venus Noire, which GOG lists with TinyHat Studios as the company. Its own site describes it as a "sexy dark fantasy tale with RPG & Strategy elements," and the studio's SubscribeStar page puts it more bluntly: it is "not your average visual novel." The core is a story-driven visual novel, but it is wrapped in a castle management layer and a map to explore.

The model is mixed. A free public build of the game exists, and it is the demo the developer's site sends first-time visitors to. Newer builds go to paying supporters and to owners of the Steam Early Access release. As of October 2026 GOG marks the game as in Early Access, and the developer's FAQ says it is released episodically, so it is a long-running project rather than a finished package. The GOG page calls it the first part of a planned trilogy and says progress and storyline carry over to the next part if the player completes it.

How it plays

The player takes the role of Rowan Blackwell, a former hero who has been forced to serve the dark bidding of a nefarious evil. The SubscribeStar page frames the story as a journey of corruption and betrayal and asks whether the hero can keep his heroic spirit or become the undoing of everything he once fought for. The developer's home page puts the choice more simply: fight against the hands of fate, or give in to the darkness.

The site's headline features show how the game is structured. It lists a dark fantasy story, castle management, world exploration and more than 100 sex scenes. The studio's description calls the storytelling reactive, with branching that makes each playthrough feel personal. Between story scenes there is a map to explore, with discoveries and adventures on it, and a castle whose buildings, gold and research the player manages. That last detail comes from the supporter tier descriptions, which mention a developer build that lets the player add gold, add buildings, finish research instantly and trigger any event at will. Those tools point to buildings, a gold economy and research in the castle layer.

The page says the design takes inspiration from influential computer RPGs of years gone by. The studio claims more than 15 hours of playtime and diverse game systems, in its own words enough content to keep a player busy for days on end.

The developer's FAQ gives some pointers about progress. Hints on what to do next can be found in the throne room, and a guide exists for triggering each of the sex scenes. The FAQ also mentions relationship content for the various NPCs in the castle and job events for a character called Alexia, so the castle has a cast of regular characters that the story keeps returning to.

Content and themes

The genre label is dark fantasy, and the content is adult fantasy: corruption, betrayal, a fallen hero and a castle under his control. The developer states that the game contains more than 100 sex scenes. The FAQ describes them as optional and clearly signposted, which means a player can avoid them.

Netorare is the one theme the FAQ addresses by name. Because that content causes a strong reaction, the game prompts the player with an option to disable it entirely, and even when it is not filtered out it can be avoided through choices in the game. According to the FAQ, if it is turned off or avoided it does not happen at all, either on or off screen. That is a concrete content control for readers who choose adult games partly by what they want to avoid.

GOG tags the game Mature, Sexual Content, Nudity, Violent, NSFW, LGBTQ+ and Hentai, and its page carries its own content warning. It says the game is dark fantasy with frequent sexual interactions between humans and a variety of fantasy creatures such as orcs and demons, and its list of content includes cuckoldry and NTR, BDSM, femdom, group sex, gay and lesbian content, sexual violence, dubious consent and suicide. The page presents that list as a warning and says the content is not limited to it.

The developer's site also promises world exploration and strategy elements, so the fantasy setting is a working part of the game and not only a backdrop. The FAQ states that scenes made as fan commissions by one of the artists are not part of the game, because they were not made for its story and characters.

Platforms and where to get it

The official site at seeds-of-chaos.com offers a Play Demo button and a FAQ that links the public build. The studio publishes on SubscribeStar, where supporters get the backer builds. In October 2026 the FAQ also names a Steam Early Access release, and GOG sells the game as an Early Access title too.

The GOG page says the game works on Windows and is officially supported on Windows only. It lists English audio and text and single-player play. The stated minimum requirements are Windows 7, a 1.8GHz dual-core CPU, 4 GB of RAM, integrated graphics and 1 GB of storage. GOG says its games have no DRM and play offline, and that a full offline installer is available, with GOG Galaxy optional. The page offers refunds up to 30 days. The site opens behind an age notice that asks visitors to confirm they are 18 or older or of legal age in their country, and the SubscribeStar page asks for a date of birth.

Price and model

The durable fact is that the game has a free build and several paid routes to newer ones. The FAQ says there is an extensive amount of content in the free version, including over half a million words, sex scene CGs, several cinematic CGs and many hours of gameplay. It also says the free version is no longer updated.

The SubscribeStar page has a ladder of monthly tiers priced in US dollars. The entry tier gives access to the feed and the Discord server, and each step up keeps what the one below it gives. In October 2026 the backer build starts at the $5 tier. The tiers above it add voting rights in polls that shape development and then a monthly pack of concept art and CGs at 3000 x 2000, a higher resolution than the in-game art. The $25 tier adds the developer build with the cheat-style tools described above, and the top tier at $50 adds a pack of all previous art. The pages do not give a Steam price.

GOG is the route with no monthly tier: it sells the game as a single purchase, priced on its store page in CHF, EUR or USD depending on the currency set there. In October 2026 the store's user rating for the game is 3.3 out of 5 from 13 reviews.

Development state and version

GOG's product details list 2020, and its page says "This game is currently in Early Access." As of October 2026 the FAQ says the game is updated bi-monthly for supporters at the $5 level and above, and quarterly for Steam Early Access owners. That schedule names supporters and Steam owners only. The SubscribeStar feed shows a post titled "Version 0. 9. 1" (the page spaces the digits that way), dated August 11, 2026 and released to every tier from $5 up, and a developer build post for the same release the next day for the two highest tiers. The release post says none of the Goblin content had been turned in yet.

The FAQ explains the plan. The game will be released episodically across three acts. The first act covers a little over a year of in-game time, and later acts cover similar spans. Planned additions include new story quests, events, scenes, more job events for Alexia and more relationship content for the castle's characters.

Who it suits

Seeds of Chaos suits a reader who wants a long, branching dark fantasy story with a management layer, is happy to follow an unfinished project and wants a free build to test before paying. The content controls, especially the option to turn off netorare, are a real plus for a reader with firm limits.

The caveats are the ones that come with an episodic early release. The free build is no longer updated, the newest content sits behind supporter tiers or the Steam release, the story has acts still to come, and the GOG edition is Windows only.
