What IdolDays is

IdolDays is a romance visual novel developed by qureate and published by Medibang Inc, according to its Nutaku page. The developer's own site calls the genre Romance Visual Novel, and Nutaku describes the game as a love-adventure about the heart-pounding roommate life of a rookie producer and a delinquent turned idol. It is a paid game, sold as a one-time purchase on several storefronts, and the version sold on Nutaku and MangaGamer is a Windows download.

The game suits a reader who wants a character-driven story with a single central heroine, an idol-industry setting and uncensored adult scenes. It is not a management sim, a gacha game or a free download. The player reads, follows the story and takes part in routes that end in different endings.

How it plays

The player takes the role of a staff member at an agency in Akihabara that manages underground idol groups. His boss has ordered him to find new idols, and the page describes him as at the end of his rope, because candidates with the talent he pictures are few and far between. While sitting defeated on a park bench he hears a stranger singing to herself as she feeds some cats. The voice shakes him, and he tries to scout her on the spot. She flatly refuses, calls the idea stupid and disappears.

The next day the office tells him that the daughter of the agency's sponsor has been hired as staff, and that he is her training supervisor. She turns out to be the singer from the park. Her name is Tsubaki Akanesaki. The page says she has had several jobs and was fired from all of them for getting into fights. The premise is the question the page itself poses: what does fate have in store for a rookie assigned to train a total delinquent, and can she turn into an idol?

The character write-up fills in what the player is dealing with. Tsubaki is described as strong enough to match any man, with a strong sense of justice. She never bullies the weak and never gets involved in crime, but her look and her way of talking lead people to misjudge her. She has no dream or ambition and drifts from day to day, while secretly feeling jealous of people who are passionate about something. She is the granddaughter of a high-profile figure in the entertainment industry. That is why a senior producer pushed her care onto the protagonist, and she has no place to live, so she ends up under the same roof as him. On the job, she starts to take an interest in idols as she watches them shine on stage.

What the player does is read and follow that daily life, with the feature list promising different routes and endings. Nothing on the pages describes stats, schedules or a training minigame, so the game is best understood as a story to read and a set of branches to follow, not a management or rhythm game. The developer's site backs the story with character, gallery, movie and staff sections.

The presentation points are the developer's. Standing pictures use the E-mote engine, which the page says moves illustrations smoothly and three-dimensionally so that characters on screen move as if they were alive. The feature list also claims high quality event CG and a story set in an actual Japanese town. The developer's site states that text is available in English, Japanese, Traditional Chinese and Simplified characters, and that the voice language is Japanese. MangaGamer's page says the game is voiced except for the main character.

Content and themes

Nutaku's tags are Hentai, Uncensored, Romance, Cosplay, Anime, Cute, Idol, Story Rich and Tsundere. The genre is Visual Novel. Put plainly, the game is an anime-styled romance with adult scenes and costume themes, framed by the idol industry and a living-together setup, and the store pages list it as uncensored. MangaGamer's rating line says Without Mosaics, and its category list names Band, Romance, Slice of Life, Idol and 3rdParty. Slice of life is the right mood to expect. The core of the story is a relationship that grows from daily work and shared housing.

On GOG, where the tags add Mature, Sexual Content, Nudity and NSFW, the IdolDays description carries the line that everyone involved in its sexual content is over the age of 18. The pages do not give a count of scenes or endings. The Nutaku page lists the staff as an illustrator, a scenario studio and a producer and planner.

Platforms and where to get it

The developer's site lists the platforms as Nintendo Switch and STEAM. Read in October 2026, it dates the Nintendo Switch version June 17, 2021 and the Steam version August 6, 2021. Nutaku offers a Windows Desktop download, and its page lists the languages as Japanese, English and Chinese. MangaGamer sells a download version for Windows 10 and Windows 8 and shows an on-sale date of Aug 6, 2021. GOG sells it DRM free as a Windows game, with an optional offline installer, and its FAQ says GOG Galaxy is not needed. GOG lists a separate unrated patch for IdolDays as an add-on, along with cloud saves and single-player play. The MangaGamer page asks for a date of birth before it will continue.

The developer's site also carries a request about gameplay video. Anyone who wants to distribute play videos or live broadcasts of the game, whether an individual or a company, is asked to contact qureate first. The Japanese version of the page sets conditions for such videos and says companies need permission to use the content.

Price and model

IdolDays is paid for once per platform. No store splits it into episodes or attaches a season pass.

In October 2026 qureate's product information gives 12.99 USD for Steam and 7.99 USD for Nintendo Switch. The Windows download costs $12.99 on Nutaku and $12.95 on MangaGamer in the same month. The GOG page shows its price in the buyer's selected currency, with CHF, EUR and USD on offer, and it carries a store user rating of 3.6/5 from 5 reviews. The Switch version and the Windows downloads are different products.

Development state and version

The Nutaku information block, read in October 2026, gives version 1, a download size of 1002.86 mb and a release date of August 31, 2021. Nothing on the pages calls the game unfinished, in early access or on hold, and no update history or roadmap is given. The developer's site shows its copyright as 2021.

Who it suits

It suits a player who wants a story-led romance with one major heroine, a workplace and idol-industry background, animated characters and Japanese voice acting with English text. The Nutaku download is 1002.86 mb, and GOG lists minimum requirements of Windows 8.1/10, 2 GB of RAM and 1 GB of storage.

The limits are plain. The main character is not voiced on the MangaGamer listing. None of the pages states a play time. Spoken dialogue is Japanese only. Prices differ by store and platform, and the Switch version is a separate release from the Windows download.
