What NinNinDays is

NinNinDays is a romance visual novel by the studio qureate, which the Nutaku page lists as both publisher and developer. It is a paid game for PC, sold on Steam, Nutaku and GOG, and the developer's own product information also lists a Nintendo Switch version. The setting is Akihabara in the present day, and the premise is a sullen main character sharing a home with a clumsy female ninja.

The Nutaku page calls it a romantic adventure game in which the player laughs and cries over the entertaining lifestyle of a slightly erotic female ninja and the main character's cohabitation. In short, it is a story-led, animated comedy romance with Japanese voices and an uncensored adult version on PC, bought once.

How it plays

The premise comes from the developer's story section. Ninja, known only by that name, are mysterious mercenaries who have worked in the shadows of history, dealing in espionage, secret plots and assassination, and bringing prosperity to feudal lords. In the present day ninja still leave their village to train, as is tradition, but a lack of requests for work has shrunk the village to a small gathering of houses in the mountains. Sumire is commanded to leave it by her father, the village chief, and told to train in the city. She has no food and no money, and she collapses at the side of the road. The main character happens to pass by and saves her. Determined to repay the debt, she barges into his house as an uninvited guest.

Sumire is described as the only daughter of the ninja village chief. She already has the qualities, ability and knowledge of a ninja, but she is a natural klutz who is always making mistakes, and the page adds that she loves to eat and is always pigging out. The main character is described as sullen. The comedy is the contrast between the two, and the developer closes its story text with the line that the two "start their erotic cohabitation".

The key features on the Nutaku and GOG pages are short. Characters are animated through what the pages call the E-mote system, with smooth character animation. There are different routes and endings. The event CG is described as high quality. The story is set in an actual Japanese town, which the developer names as Akihabara. The developer's product information adds that the voice language is Japanese, while the text can be read in English, Japanese, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese. The Nutaku page lists English as its language for that version.

What the player does is read and decide: the feature list promises different routes and endings, and the store pages describe nothing beyond that, such as a map, a schedule or a stats system. The pages do not give a number of routes or endings. Sumire is the only character with a section of her own on the developer's page, which also has gallery, movie and staff sections, and the developer's site notes that her voice differs between the Steam and Nintendo Switch editions.

Content and themes

The Nutaku tags are DRM Free, Uncensored, Cute, Anime, Cosplay, Ninja, Slice of Life, Story Rich and Romance. GOG files it under the genres Adventure, Narrative and Visual Novel, and its tag row adds Mature, Sexual Content, Nudity, NSFW and Romance. The adult content is the erotic side of the cohabitation between the main character and Sumire, framed by the developer as slightly erotic, and both the Nutaku and GOG pages state that all characters involved in sexual content are over the age of 18.

The art is anime style, drawn by a credited illustrator, and the Nutaku page tags the game Uncensored. It is an adult PC visual novel from a Japanese studio whose company details give a Tokyo address, and the studio itself calls the cohabitation erotic and publishes a free R-18 patch for the Steam edition. The ninja and cosplay tags describe the costume and character type, and the slice-of-life tag describes the everyday tone of the household. On GOG the description ends with a notice about content unsuitable for all ages or for a workplace screen, and the store asks visitors to confirm they are 18 or older before the page opens.

Platforms and where to get it

Under Product Info, qureate gives the platform line as Nintendo Switch and STEAM. Its patch page addresses buyers of what it calls a PC game exclusive for Steam. The Nutaku page lists Windows Desktop as its platform and carries a DRM Free tag. The GOG page lists Windows as the supported system, says the game is DRM-free with no activation or online connection required to play, and says a fully offline installer is available, so its GOG Galaxy client is optional. GOG also lists cloud saves, single-player play and full refunds up to 30 days.

On the hardware side GOG asks for Windows 7, 8.1 or 10, with 2 GB of RAM as the minimum and 4 GB recommended, DirectX 9.0, 1 GB of storage and a pointing device; a display of 1280x720 or higher is the recommendation. Windows RT and Windows 10 Mobile are marked as not supported.

Steam buyers get the adult content through qureate's own R-18 patch, a single file named "root.pfs.040" that goes into the NinNinDays installation folder. The patch page explains how to reach that folder from the game's properties window in Steam, through the Local Files tab and Browse Local Files, and says deleting the file removes the patch again. Its precautions are that NinNinDays should be closed first and that saved data is not affected either way. The GOG page lists a separate item called "NinNinDays - unrated patch".

Price and model

NinNinDays is a one-time purchase with no free tier, subscription or in-game currency described. As of October 2026 the developer's product information lists the Steam price as 12.99 USD and the Nintendo Switch price as 7.99 USD, and the Nutaku page lists the PC version at $12.99. GOG's listing of NinNinDays changes its price with the currency picked from CHF, EUR and USD. The R-18 patch for the Steam version is described as a free distribution.

Development state and version

In October 2026 the Nutaku page lists version 1.0, a download size of 706.19 mb and a release date of November 19, 2019. The developer's copyright line reads 2019. The studio's own product list marks NinNinDays as on sale, and the store pages present it as a finished release with no upcoming content announced.

Who it suits

It suits a reader who wants an animated romantic comedy with a clear premise, a single central heroine and an Akihabara setting, and who is happy to pay once and read in English with Japanese voices. The routes give a reason to replay. In October 2026 the GOG page shows a user rating of 3.9 out of 5 from 5 reviews, which is that store's own figure and a small sample.

The limits are straightforward. The voice track is Japanese only, so English audio is not offered. The Steam edition needs the separate patch for the adult content. And a reader who wants a large cast or a game that keeps growing will find a self-contained story with no announced updates instead.
