What TroubleDays is

TroubleDays is a romance visual novel made by the studio qureate, set in Akihabara and built around a naive succubus who ends up living with the player's character. It is a paid game: the developer's page lists it for Steam and Nintendo Switch, and the GOG and FAKKU store pages sell the Windows version. The developer's page gives its genre as "Romance Visual Novel" and lists English among its text languages. The tone is a light comedy about an awkward cohabitation rather than a drama.

The official site opens with a warning that it handles adult PC games and is for visitors aged 18 or over. For a reader deciding whether to look further, the short version is a voiced, animated, story-led game with a supernatural romantic comedy premise, one central heroine, several routes and an uncensored adult version on PC.

How it plays

The premise, as the developer tells it, is this. The creatures of the demon world known as succubi feed on a man's sexual energy, which the page calls "technoforce". One day a succubus named Lovelia appears in front of the main character to harvest it. She is described as one of the greatest beauties in 1000 years, yet this is her first work assignment and she is very naive about men. She tries again and again to take his technoforce, and her innocence keeps getting in the way. The rules of her job make things worse: unless she succeeds in harvesting the technoforce of the man she has chosen, she cannot go home to the demon world and she cannot move on to another man. So she stays, and the two end up living together.

That frame explains why the game is built as a cohabitation comedy rather than an adventure. The player takes the role of the main character, who is not named on the page, and follows Lovelia's repeated attempts. The character profile adds that she has a strong tendency to day-dream, and that the slightest comment from the main character sets off an instant naughty fantasy. The developer sums the game up as the awkwardly funny and slightly naughty new life of one naive succubus, set in Akihabara.

The pages give a few concrete details about how the game is put together. Characters move through the E-mote system, which the developer describes as smooth character animation, and the GOG page says it makes illustrations move smoothly and three-dimensionally so that the characters on screen move as if they were alive. The feature list also names different routes and endings, high quality event CG and a story set in an actual Japanese town. The voice language is Japanese, and the developer's page lists a different voice actor for the Nintendo Switch version than for the Steam version.

The pages do not say how many endings the routes lead to. Nothing on them describes a stats or management layer, so the game is presented as a story to be read and watched, and the developer's site also carries a gallery, a movie section and a staff section for it.

Content and themes

The game is an adult visual novel and the pages treat it as one. The themes are the paranormal romance of a succubus and a human, a slice-of-life setting in an actual Japanese town, and comedy built on a clumsy, over-eager heroine. The FAKKU store page, which names qureate as developer and MediBang! as publisher, lists the tags Blowjob, Crotch Tattoo, Game, Hentai, Succubus, Uncensored and Vanilla. GOG's tag row for TroubleDays reads Adventure, Visual Novel, Mature, Sexual Content, Nudity, NSFW, Narrative and Hentai. Put plainly, that is a succubus romance with an uncensored presentation and a store-assigned vanilla tag.

GOG's description of TroubleDays closes with notices that every character involved in sexual content is over the age of 18 and that the content may not be appropriate for all ages or for viewing at work.

The art is anime-style illustration, both stores apply a Hentai tag, and the developer's own entry page describes its site as handling adult PC games, which is what TroubleDays is: an adult PC visual novel from a Japanese studio. The developer's site publishes a free R-18 patch for the Steam version, and the GOG page lists a separate downloadable item called "TroubleDays - unrated patch".

Platforms and where to get it

Lovelia's game is listed by its developer for console and PC, with the platform line reading Nintendo Switch and STEAM. A separate page on the official site thanks buyers of "Trouble Days" as a PC game exclusive for Steam and explains the patch. The FAKKU Games page lists Windows as the platform and English as the language and offers the game for purchase. The GOG page lists Windows as the supported system.

On GOG, TroubleDays comes DRM-free, and the store says neither activation nor an online connection is needed to play. It says a fully offline installer is available and that its GOG Galaxy client is optional, used for achievements and cloud saves. It lists the game as single-player and offers full refunds up to 30 days. Its requirements list starts at Windows 8.1 or 10 and stays modest: 2 GB of RAM at minimum and 4 GB recommended, DirectX 9.0, 1 GB of free storage, a pointing device, and 1280x720 or higher as the recommended display.

The R-18 patch instructions on the developer's site are short. The patch is one file, simply named "patch", and it belongs in the Trouble Days installation folder, which Steam opens from the game's property window under the Local Files tab with Browse Local Files. Removing the patch means deleting that file again. The page's precautions are that Trouble Days has to be closed while the file is added or removed, and that save data stays untouched.

Price and model

TroubleDays is a one-time purchase. No free tier, currency, subscription or season structure is described on the pages. Steam buyers pay nothing extra for the R-18 patch, which qureate announces as a free distribution.

Qureate's price line for TroubleDays, read in October 2026, shows 12.99 USD on Steam and 7.99 USD on Nintendo Switch. The FAKKU Games page lists the game at $12.99. On GOG the figure is not a fixed dollar amount like those: the store displays it in CHF, EUR or USD, whichever the buyer has picked.

Development state and release

The developer's page lists the Steam release as January 14, 2020 and the Nintendo Switch release as July 9, 2020, and its copyright line reads 2020. In October 2026 none of the pages gives a version or build number, announces upcoming content or marks the game as early access or in development.

Who it suits

This is a fit for a reader who wants a voiced romantic comedy with a supernatural premise and does not need a large cast. The pages describe one central heroine and one living situation. Someone who likes the Japanese visual novel format, reads English comfortably and prefers a single clear premise to a sprawling one can judge the setup from the developer's description alone. In October 2026 the GOG page shows a store user rating of 3.8 out of 5 from 4 reviews.

There are limits worth knowing. The voices are Japanese only, with translated text, which matters to a reader who wants English audio. On Steam the adult content depends on the separate patch from the developer's site, and the PC platform listed is Windows, with no mention of Mac or Linux. It is also a one-time purchase with no updates announced, so it will not suit someone after a free game or one that adds chapters over time.
